Brats Studio
A Brief History
Spliteye Multimedia was founded in 1996 in New York City with the vision and mission to publish the work of architects and engineers in interactive digital formats.
Our early projects were Book+CD-ROM (remember those?) but shortly thereafter, we began creating custom websites, and we fell in love with the World Wide Web.
During our first decade in business, we created "first-ever-websites" for many of the leading architecture and engineering firms in the country. Quickly, we developed a solid reputation for delivering exceptional websites and design services. We expanded our client base to include designers, builders and other professionals related to architecture.
Twenty-six years later and counting, we're still doing it!
Experience & Expertise
While our experience may be an accident of time, our expertise is the true gauge of our competency and the pillar of our confidence in what we do.
Being around for almost 3 decades has sharpened our expertise and given us a long perspective on the Web.
We've worked through many generations of Web design, from the early hand-written html sites, through the crazy years of Flash, to the present-day CMS-driven, responsive websites. And we're still excited, eager to learn whatever comes next, and passionate about the future of the Web.
Focus
Spliteye was born out of the architectural publishing world of the 1990s, the decade in which the World Wide Web became accessible to the public. Founder Roberto de Alba's roots in architecture and strong passion for design and technology are the reasons behind Spliteye's unique focus. Our concentration on developing websites for architecture, engineering and construction has refined our appreciation of the nuances related to each one of our projects. This consistent focus has earned the trust of our clients.

Leadership
Founding partner Roberto de Alba is the creative force behind Spliteye. Roberto is an award-winning, seasoned designer, publisher and author, who is intensely passionate about design and technolgy.
After graduating from the Yale School of Architecture, he worked at I.M. Pei & Partners up until he won a Dinkeloo Fellowship to the American Academy in Rome. Roberto subsequently entered the architectural publishing world and became Executive Editor for Architecture & Design at Van Nostrand Reinhold (Thomson Reuters) before launching Spliteye in 1996.
As Chief Creative Principal of Spliteye, Roberto is the front man, a hands-on, decision maker responsible for developing and directing design and technology solutions for all projects in the studio.
Roberto is the author of Paul Rudolph: The Late Work (Princeton Architectural Press) and editor of the 27th issue of Perspecta, The Yale Architectural Journal (Rizzoli International).
Team at Large
New York City is Spliteye's home and birthplace, but we collaborate with people all over the world, London, Hamburg, Venice, Miami, Hanoi, Hong Kong, Melbourne. Fortunately, all our work is online and allows us to be here, there and everywhere, while keeping a watchful eye on our websites.
